The Author

I’ve been in love with books and writing since my youth. I served as the editor for my high school newspaper, and during my senior year, I was a contributing journalist for my city’s paper. Many people don’t know that I initially pursued a broadcast journalism major in college before changing my major twice. I share this with my college students and mentees to illustrate that it’s okay to change paths and that they don’t have to stick with their first choices in life. Besides, if it’s for them, it will find them!

Becoming a teacher and a published author has always been my dream. In 2009, I started blogging; in 2014, I became a college professor; I starting my first podcast in 2019 (which sort of satisfied my broadcasting goal), and my first set of books were published in 2020. When I struggle with self-doubt I have to tell myself, “Shut up and pay attention,” because I truly am living my dreams in full color!
